XLN Audio Addictive Drums allows you to use it within your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) or as a standalone application.
When used in your DAW, Addictive Drums allows you to use your piano sounds in your compositions. This is ideal if you’re looking to add high-quality piano alongside other instruments or effects.
Alternatively, using Addictive Drums as a standalone application gives you immediate access to piano sounds without needing to open your DAW, making it a convenient option for practising and experimenting. This standalone mode is perfect when you want to sit down, play, and enjoy the instrument’s sounds instantly without the setup time a DAW requires.
In this guide, we've used Ableton Live Lite as the DAW used to open Addictive Drums. However, most of the steps are the same in other DAWs.
-
Open Ableton Live Lite (or any DAW) from your applications folder.
-
Go to Plug-Ins in the Browser on the left-hand side of Live.
-
Expand the XLN Audio folder
-
Double click .
If you have a MIDI track selected in Live, it will add Addictive Drums to that track. If not, Live creates a new MIDI track and adds Addictive Drums as a Device on that track.
-
If you have a MIDI controller keyboard, or MIDI drum kit, connected to your computer, click the Arm Recording button at the bottom of the MIDI track in Live and you can use the keys to play the sounds in Addictive Drums.
If you don't have a MIDI controller keyboard, you can use MIDI to trigger the piano sounds from Addictive Drums.
