Installing Sonnox Soften

This section teaches you how to install the Sonnox Soften plugin step-by-step.

The Sonnox Soften plugin is free to download for all Focusrite and Novation customers with registered hardware until Tuesday 16th September.

Installing the Sonnox Soften plugin

  1. Go to: id.focusritegroup.com/my-software.

    • If you're prompted, log in with your account.

  2. Click on My Software at the top of the page.

  3. Scroll down until you see Sonnox Soften.

  4. Click View details.

  5. Click Show me my code to reveal your unique activation code.

  6. Click the Copy button to the right, to copy the code.

  7. Click the download link in your account, or one of the following, to download the installer for Sonnox Soften:

  8. Go to your computer's Downloads folder and find the file beginning with “Sonnox Soften…”.

    • On macOS, double-click the file to make it a folder.

    • On Windows, right-click the file and click Extract all, to make it a folder.

  9. Go into the folder and double-click the Sonnox Soften install file.

  10. Follow the instructions in the installer to install the Sonnox Soften plugin.

Activating the Sonnox Soften plugin in iLok License Manager

To license and activate Sonnox plugins, you need to use a third-party account with a company called iLok. iLok uses a small piece of software installed on your computer to make sure your plugins are licensed.

If you've installed some plugins in the past, you may already have iLok license manager installed: search iLok in your applications folder to check. If you do have it installed, so, you can skip forward to opening iLok License Manager.

If you're not sure if you have an iLok account or have forgotten your iLok ID, you can recover your details with iLok here.

Having multiple iLok IDs can cause activation issues, so make sure to check if you're unsure.

  1. If you haven't got iLok License Manager on your computer, go to this link: ilok.com.

  2. Download the macOS or Windows version of iLok License Manger.

  3. Go to your computer's downloads folder and find the iLok License Manger installer.

  4. Open the installer and follow the instructions to install iLok License Manager.

  5. Open iLok License Manager from your computer's Applications folder.

  6. Click Sign In.

    1. If you already have an account, you'll be signed in and can skip the next steps.

    2. If you haven't already got an iLok account, click Create New Account in the bottom right corner and follow the instructions on the iLok website.

    3. After you've created an iLok account, go back to iLok License Manager.

  7. Click the Redeem an activation code button in the top right corner of iLok License Manger:

  8. Paste the code you copied in Step 6 of “installing the Sonnox Soften plugin”, or you can find it in the My software section of your account here.

  9. Click Next.

  10. Choose a location for the license and click Redeem (in most cases, you don't need to change this from the default).
