I can’t find my Soften activation code, where is it?
Your activation code is in your Focusrite Novation My Software page.
-
Log into your Focusrite/Novation account and re-check the My Software page.
-
Make sure you’re logged into a Focusrite or Novation account with hardware registered here.
If you’re still stuck, contact our Support team.
What is iLok, and why do I need it?
iLok is a licensing system used to manage software activation. Sonnox Soften uses iLok to securely store your licence.
-
You don’t need a physical iLok USB key.
-
You will need an iLok account and the iLok Licence Manager app, which is free from iLok.com.
I’ve never used iLok before, how do I know which account I used?
If you’re unsure what your iLok username is:
-
Open iLok Licence Manager and look under the ‘User’ icon in the top left.
-
Check your email inbox for any past iLok activation emails.
-
Check iLok's recovery page here.
-
If you may have created more than one iLok account, make sure you sign in to the same one you used to redeem your licence.
My licence is showing in the cloud, what does that mean?
If your licence appears under ‘Cloud’ in iLok Licence Manager, it means it’s stored in iLok’s secure online system.
To use Soften, you can either:
-
Open iLok Licence Manager and go to File > Open Cloud Session, or
-
Drag the licence to your local machine to use it offline.
Why is Soften not showing in GarageBand?
Try the following:
-
Fully quit GarageBand (⌘Q), then reopen it.
-
Open a new project and go to Smart Controls > Plugin area. Soften should appear under Audio Units > Sonnox.
-
If it’s still missing, restart your Mac and reopen GarageBand.
Why is Soften not showing in Ableton Live?
In Live:
-
Open Preferences > Plug-Ins.
-
Ensure Audio Units (AU) and/or VST3 is enabled, depending on the format you installed.
-
Click Rescan Plugins at the bottom of that window.
You’ll find Soften under Plug-ins > Audio Units > Sonnox or Plug-ins > VST3 > Sonnox.
